Panzerkampfwagen IV (PzKpfw IV), commonly known as Panzer IV, was a German medieval tank developed in the late 1930s and used extensively during World War II. Its designation for inventory was Sd.Kfz. 161.

The Panzer IV was the most made tank and the second most numerous German armored combat vehicle during World War II, with about 8,500 built. The Panzer IV chassis was used as the base for many other combat vehicles, including the Sturmgeschütz IV assault pistol, Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer, Wirbelwind self-propelled aircraft pistol and Blackberry self-propelled pistol. Panzer IV was originally used for infantry support while similar Panzer III would fight armored vehicles.
