The Civil War D-Guard Chopper is an impressive reproduction of a historic knife from the American Civil War era. The original inspiration for this massive working and fighting knife was featured in the renowned The Antique Bowie Knife Book.
Most likely based on a Confederate knife, this design combines a traditional D-Guard Bowie handle with a broad bolo-style blade, creating a powerful chopping tool with the character of a short machete. It is both visually striking and highly distinctive among historical knife designs. The blade is crafted from 1075 high carbon steel and features a slight distal taper to reduce weight while maintaining strength near the hilt. Its broad profile, rounded tip, and hollow-ground bevels provide strong cutting performance and an authentic historical appearance.
The dark-stained cylindrical wooden grip reflects the common handle style used on many large knives of the period and is paired with the signature D-Guard hand protection.
While the original knife either lost its sheath or never had one, this reproduction includes a high-quality black leather sheath featuring a ring-mounted belt loop, retaining strap, and lanyard attachment.
