During the Viking Age, the axe was a weapon that was used as often as the sword and the spear. This replica of a Viking axe with the exotic cross shape in the axe head was modelled on one found from the Swedish island of Gotland.
The axe head is forged from EN45 spring steel and has a blunt cutting edge. It is attached to the wooden shaft with rivets.
