VIKING MAMMEN COLLECTOR AX - CARBON STEEL
Regarded as one of the most striking and beautiful archaeological finds from the Viking Age, the so-called Mammen Tool was excavated from a 11th-century burial mound in Mammen (near Viborg) in Jutland, Denmark. This unique object gave its name to the eponymous Viking art style (c. 950-1030 – a continuation of the animal decoration of the Jelling style, with the gradual introduction of more vegetal and decidedly less geometric elements).
