- The blade is hand-forged and made of hardened stainless steel.

- The blade is blunt and has a fuller (Bo-Hi).

- The handle (tsuka) is made of wood and covered with genuine black ray (sama).

- The traditionally attached handle wrap (tsuka-ito) is made of cotton.

- The cast zinc-aluminum tsuba shows a floral motif.
