This magnificent Viking sword is based on a silver-inlaid bronze hilt excavated on the Isle of Eigg (Inner Hebrides, Scotland) in 1830. Although some blade fragments were also found at that time, these could not be obtained. The original, beautifully detailed grave find can be admired in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Dating to the 10th/early 11th century, this finely crafted piece of Viking history is classified as Type D according to the Petersen typology of Viking swords.
