The IS-7 is a prototype Soviet heavy tank. The model was originally called Object 260. It was designed and manufactured in the Kirov factory in Leningrad. Ultimately, it was to become the successor of the not very successful IS-4. Unfortunately, it did not successfully pass the field tests. The development of the model was stopped by political games at the highest levels of power in the USSR. A characteristic feature of the model was the so-called pike nose - characteristic armor plates were to facilitate ricocheting of missiles. The M-50 four-stroke diesel engine, previously used on a mass scale in Soviet torpedo boats, was used for propulsion. The excellent driving characteristics have been achieved at the expense of enormous fuel consumption. A novelty was the fire protection system in the engine compartment, which could be used three times. The cast, streamlined turret is equipped with the S-70 gun, caliber 130 mm, anti-aircraft KPWT and several automatic machine guns on the turret and the sides of the hull.
